The list, compiled by the Best Companies Group, an independent research firm, is created based on employee responses to a survey that takes into account employee satisfaction and engagement across a broad spectrum of categories including Leadership and Planning, Corporate Culture and Communications, Training, Development and Resources, Pay and Benefits, and more. What makes a great company? We can answer that - according to the recent Best Places to Work assessment sponsored by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Cydcor ranked in the top 100 companies to work for in Los Angeles County – coming in 38th best of mid-sized companies. There are thousands of companies of our size in Los Angeles County and many of them participated in this year’s competition. As you can imagine, the LA list is quite popular. The list is in its seventh year and has grown significantly, attracting employers from all over Los Angeles County. We are proud to have been named once again!
We are doing even more with the following in the works:
· Resource staffing plans – working with departments to properly resource for success
· Performance management – a new performance appraisal process
· Compensation study – researching pay by position and responsibilities to ensure we align with the market
· Program for our people – including development of consistent onboarding, training and development programs
So, while we never rest on our accomplishments – there is a lot to make our families proud, our friends jealous, and us feel great!

Cydcor team members participated in a confidential assessment to rank Cydcor in workplace experience, culture, benefits, and policies. Each year, the Los Angeles Business Journal recognizes the best public and privately-held employers in Los Angeles County. All of the companies recognized have more than a 92.7 percent employee engagement level; on average, only 33 percent employee engagement is considered typical.

The Business Journal and Best Companies Group worked together to identify and recognize area companies with a strong commitment to workplace excellence.
Both publicly and privately held organizations were selected based on benefits, corporate philanthropy, policies, work-life balance, internal working conditions, local management, satisfaction, camaraderie and support of employees' personal growth. Selections were based on company surveys and employee comments.
Cydcor was named among the “Best Places to Work” by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal for the second year in a row and ranked #14 for area mid-sized companies.
The Business Journal and Best Companies Group worked together to identify and recognize area companies like Cydcor with a strong commitment to workplace excellence. Both publicly and privately held organizations were selected based on benefits, corporate philanthropy, policies, work-life balance, internal working conditions, local management, camaraderie and support of employees’ personal growth. Cydcor team members are eligible for benefits in the month following their hire date. Beginning in their first year, each Cydcor employee receives 15 days of sick and vacation time. Team members can also occasionally arrange to work from home. Cydcor provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), including mental health counseling and referrals, wellness and smoking cessation programs.
In order to maintain open communication between company leaders and team members, Cydcor’s office culture includes a suggestion box, open-door policy, employee surveys and organizational newsletters.

Approximately 100 Los Angeles area employees moved into Conejo Valley’s Westlake Park Place, a new 27-acre campus style office development. Occupying the entire 4th floor with 20,000 square feet, the Cydcor office’s new space is almost twice the size of its current location, which the company occupied for the past seven years.
Cydcor also puts a large emphasis on corporate philanthropy in Cydcor’s community. This past year, the Cydcor hosted Business Building Blocks, a weekend filled with philanthropic and training activities with the Boys & Girls Club of Venice for soon-to-be office owners. Cydcor also hosted a toy drive to benefit Childrens Hospital Los Angeles during its annual corporate kick-off meeting. Last fall, Cydcor donated groceries and hygiene products to a Manna-sponsored food drive and helped more than 500 Sylmar families who lost their homes in the Sayre fire. Last spring, the Cydcor joined the ranks of Ventura county businesses for some friendly competition during the 2009 Ventura Corporate Games. Cydcor kicked off its participation by lending a hand (and a shovel) at one of the group’s community service events – the Harbor Wetlands Restoration Project.

Special emphasis on volunteerism. The company offers every team member a paid “volunteer day,” giving them the opportunity to volunteer at the organization of their choice.
Yearly participation in the Ventura County Corporate games. In early 2009, the company participated in the Harbor Wetlands Restoration Project, where they were one of the first to assist in the creation of the Ventura Harbor Ecological Reserve.

Competitive health care benefits. This includes the option to select from several HMO and PPO plans. An employee assistance program, competitive 401K, and paid flex day are also available to all team members.
A dynamic and employee-focused atmosphere. Monthly staff meetings are held to update all team members on the status of the company.
Cydcor, along with the other winning companies, will be recognized at an award reception on August 19 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City. At the reception, the rankings of the 30 companies, grouped by totally number of employees, will be unveiled. Cydcor will also be included in the August 2009 special edition of the San Fernando Valley Business Journal, which will profile the companies selected.

Selections were based 25% from company surveys and 75% from a 60-question survey which was completed by employees to assess their satisfaction with their work and employer. The two combined sets of data were tabulated and analyzed to determine a final ranking.
