Twitter was created to build social networks, support conversations and increase engagement between individuals and communities. A successful Twitter strategy requires your full participation. You need to do more than share stories about your company, product or service. A successful Twitter strategy requires that you share messages that matter.
At Cydcor, we value communication skills and encourage our employees and sales associates to always tell engaging stories. Use your Twitter account to share news about your company and a bit of your own personality. Here are some strategies for optimizing Twitter for work.
Short and Tweet
Each tweet is limited to 140 characters. Write shorts tweets that start conversations or encourage conversations to continue. Ask a question. Offer a resource. Keep your comments professional but not too formal. Quality content leads to more shares, garners better engagement and grows your online community.
Tweeting on Time
You may be sharing the best messages ever shared on Twitter, but if no one sees them, then they’re not having an impact. You might want to try scheduling your tweets to be published when users are online and will notice them. Hootsuite and Buffer are two online platforms that allow you to schedule your tweets. Research suggests that most people check their tweets at lunchtime.
Learn to Use #Hashtags
#Hashtags allow users to search tweets for topics that interest them. Create a series of hashtags related to your company. Your company name, product names and terms relevant to your industry make good hashtags. For example, if you work in the travel industry, you could use #vacation to engage followers interested in planning a trip.
Create Quality Content
Use words that everyone will understand—not just others in your industry. It helps to engage potential customers by creating useful content that solves problems. Before posting a tweet, ask yourself if your followers will find your message useful and worth sharing.
Twitter is a great tool to add to your selling strategy. It provides you with a platform and a voice to attract new followers and customers. Put these skills into practice and you may soon see more opportunities for success.

Sales professionals have a natural impulse to focus attention on developing new customer relationships in order to land new accounts. It’s a good impulse, but it’s one that you need to manage in order to maintain existing customer relationships.
At Cydcor, we’re interested in pursuing new opportunities, but we also understand that you can’t forget current customers in the pursuit of new possibilities. Customer relationships aren’t over once you close the sale. It’s the start of a long-term partnership that will benefit your company and your customer.
Here are some strategies for building—and maintaining—great customer relationships.
Remember Their Names
Whether you’re working with a small company or a large corporation you’ll be working with an individual—a person. He or she has a family, a birthday, a new child, or a feisty puppy. Get to know your customer. Include a few notes in your contact management system to help you remember personal details that distinguish them. Personal knowledge provides a way to start a sales conversation. Reach out on your customers’ special days and they’ll remember that you made an extra effort when they have to make purchasing decision.
Become a Solution Center
Offer your customers the resources they need to stay informed about changes, improvements, and up-dates in the service you provide. If your company offers a newsletter make sure that your customer knows about it. When you find articles, books, or webinars that might be useful to your customer remember to share them. Call out the information that will be valuable to them and their particular problems. They’ll appreciate that you personalized the information for them.
Monitor Customer Relationships with Social Media
Research by Zendesk says that 45% of customers shared bad customer experiences and only 30% shared good customer experiences on social media. This information is an important tool for building customer relationships. Follow your customers’ social media accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Listen to what they’re saying and you’ll be able to fix any issues if they happen.
Customers Are Team Members
Include your customers in events that matter to them, to your company, and his or her company. If your department is hosting a networking event or is launching a new service make certain that your customer hears about it. When you’re working on improving your team’s internal processes get your customers’ feedback. Show them that you value their business and their professional expertise.

The amount of companies and brands on social media continues to grow. A large part of reaching an online audience requires excellent social media skills, and companies only hire the best to represent their online interests. The following are a few tips to remember when managing a company profile on social media, and how you can grow your company page into something bigger and noteworthy.
Consistency is Key
Posting on a consistent basis is the first step to managing a company page well. No one wants to follow a company that only updates their account once a month. Post updates on a regular basis, but don’t post so much that you annoy your followers. Balance is always the best way to handle things.
Establish a Voice
A company page’s updates should have a professional voice that can still be approachable. While your posts should be consistent, it’s also important to note the way sentences are phrased and whether or not they fall in line with the voice your company represents. Depending on the type of audience, an online voice can be playful or stern. Realizing which one suits you best is key to establishing a good rapport with followers.

Know Your Audience
Who are your followers? An online audience on social media for a company is typically made up of fans, employees, family members of employees, and potential employees. Be sure to tailor updates to each part of your body of followers. It’s also a good idea to take note of what times of day you receive the best engagement--use this to guide when you post in the future.
Be Respectful
The worst thing that can happen on social media is to offend a large part of an audience and receive negative feedback. Always try to play it safe while still taking chances and being innovative. Audiences like brands that have a sense of humor but are still respectful of everyone’s feelings.
Showcase the People Who Make Up the Company
People who follow your pages want to know more about the people that make up your company. Be sure to showcase any office goings-on or charitable events. These posts tend to do very well with engagement.

Cydcor Reviews Platform by Michael Hyatt
Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World
By Michael Hyatt
Review by: Gail Michalak

Description of this book: Getting noticed is getting increasingly more difficult. The Internet has made is free and easy for anyone to fill the world with information. If you are a writer or a business owner, having a strategy to build and audience is key to sustaining income. Publishing executive Michael Hyatt explains how to create a compelling product and combine it will a meaningful platform. This book has been endorsed by marketing guru Seth Godin, best selling author Dave Ramsey, and former Yahoo! Executive Tim Sanders. Hyatt explains how to get traffic to your website over and over again and build the life you want to lead.
Why people should read this book: Whether you want to drive sales, promote yourself for a job, publish a book or become a blogger, this book explains how to build an audience and make a good impression. Hyatt also guides you through using all the major social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter. This book will help you navigate an increasingly digital world. It is important not to get left behind.
My favorite part: Michael Hyatt writes with honesty from his own experience. He is not afraid to expose his own stories of failure before he hit success. His words are encouraging but also honest, he assures you there is no “quick fix” when it comes to building your platform, but that hard work can pay off once your strategy is in place.
Gail Michalak is the VP of Marketing and Communications for Cydcor. Gail overseas all of Cydcor's digital media, public relations, corporate communications and marketing efforts.
