Team members from Cydcor, the leading provider of outsourced, face-to-face sales teams, reigned victorious during the 21st annual Ventura Corporate Games, taking home four gold medals and one bronze. The six-week competition featured 66 companies from Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, divided into four divisions, that battled it out in a series of sporting events.

Cydcor team members were up for the challenge, competing in 15 different games including basketball, table tennis, lazertag, kick ball, and dominoes. The flag football team beat out some tough competition during a three game tournament, scoring 34-28 in the final game overtime victory that saw them take home the gold.

Cydcor’s men’s basketball team was also victorious, beating out last year’s rival and champion, the Ventura County District Attorney’s office, and thus securing another gold medal. Other Cydcor gold medal victories were seen in Texas Hold’em and Spades.

“The basketball win was ‘poetic justice’ and was due in part to the support received by Cydcor community team members,” said Team Coordinator Joel Daniels.

The games, however, aren’t just about winning medals. Volunteerism, sportsmanship and team spirit are the overarching objectives of participating. The Corporate Games honors teams that participate in community service activities such as beach cleanup and Habitat for Humanity. In addition, skill and teamwork is also demonstrated during the photo, t-shirt design and sand sculpture contests.

“The competition is not just about being the best at each event. It’s about teamwork, having fun, rooting for others, and being part of a community of local businesses participating in friendly competition,” said Corporate Games Community Services Director, Elena Brokaw.

Coach Wooden

Jun 7, 2010

A great man passed away on Friday. He was a teacher disguised as a basketball coach. Although I was never on any of his teams and only met him briefly, he was a big influence on my life.

Coach Wooden was voted by sports writers as the greatest coach of any sport in the 20th century. His UCLA teams won 10 national championships, by far the most ever. But it was not these successes alone that made him such an amazing man. It was his values and what he stood for: the importance of marriage and family, character and integrity, sacrifice and teamwork. Preparation, preparation and more preparation. Focus on the effort and not on the results.

A must read is "Wooden- A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court" by Coach Wooden with Steve Jamison. It is an easy read, where it is best only to read a page or two at a time. You will learn what it takes to be successful and how to have a meaningful life.

Two things that stick out most in my mind about Coach Wooden. One, some of his players say what they learned most from Coach Wooden is how to be a good husband by his example of how he was to his beloved wife Nellie. Two, the amount of preparation he put in to each practice; more time to prepare for the practice than the time it took to conduct the practice. I hope I learned these lessons well. The most important thing I can teach is how to be a husband and father; and, to maximize success, prepare, prepare, prepare.

May he rest in peace and always be in our hearts.

Cydcor Creates Philanthropic New Program, 'Cydcor Cares,' to Further Community Involvement

May 27, 2010

Cydcor, the leading provider of face-to-face sales teams, has announced that the company is expanding its community outreach efforts through a new program called "Cydcor Cares," which puts both local and remote team members in direct contact with low to no cost charitable opportunities that they can do individually or as a group on a quarterly basis.

Cydcor Cares will create opportunities for team members to volunteer and donate time to local organizations, such as food kitchens, literacy programs at public libraries, and to "adopt" an elementary school, providing services such as tutoring, reading, music, and drama/coaching. Cydcor's team members can also volunteer their expertise to business building programs in the community, such as interviewing, resume building, and career coaching.

As a result of Cydcor's commitment to team members and community outreach program, the company was named one of the Best Places to Work in the San Fernando Valley Business Journal in 2008 and 2009. Additionally, in the recent past, Cydcor team members:

  • Participated in Heal the Bay, where they collected 50 pounds of trash and other debris during a beach clean-up
  • Donated 27 large boxes of items, ranging from food snacks and toiletries and entertainment, to American Soldiers through Any Soldier, Inc., an organization that helps nearly 100,000 American soldiers in all branches of the military receive letters and packages from home
  • Hosted a toy drive to benefit Children's Hospital of Los Angeles during its annual corporate kick-off meeting
  • Donated groceries and hygiene products to a Manna-sponsored food drive
  • Helped more than 500 Sylmar families who lost their homes in the Sayre fire

"At Cydcor, community involvement is paramount, which is why we provide every team member with a 'Volunteer Day,' of eight paid hours they can use at any time in the year" said Chief Executive Officer Gary Polson. "Our Cydcor Cares program will enable them to take advantage of additional opportunities and resources to use those volunteer hours."

In addition to individual team member contributions year-round, Cydcor Cares will have one, pre-chosen philanthropic activity per year that will be sponsored by Cydcor, enabling team members to come together and work as a group to complete the effort.

Cydcor Cares was developed on the heels of other Cydcor philanthropic programs, including the Neighborhood Leader program and the company-sponsored Volunteer Day benefit. Neighborhood Leader provides Cydcor's independently licensed offices with the opportunity to provide their time and talent to non-profit, community, or charitable organizations of their choice, with Cydcor matching their individual donations.

"It's important to all of us to live up to our behaviors we value by collaborating to give back to the community," Polson said. "Not only do we strive to be an example to the field, but we strongly encourage unity and volunteerism. We give our all to our business, and we're doing the same for the community."

Extending its results-proven excellence in outsourced sales services, Cydcor is expanding services into the retail channel through in-store marketing initiatives designed to improve client customer engagement and sales results.

Growing client interest in Cydcor's retail expertise requires the company to add resources and expand to meet retailer needs. Cydcor offices grow top-line sales results through in-store marketing programs, incorporating innovative strategies and leveraging Cydcor's experience in outsourced face-to-face sales engagements on behalf of market leaders.

"Cydcor delivers sales results, and our capable marketing representatives know how to engage, motivate and win new customers for our clients in a range of environments, including in-store,'' said Jim Majeski , Cydcor President. "The outstanding experience and performance of Cydcor's retail sales teams provide a unique marketing package that is measurable and that efficiently produces results.''

"In a challenging economy, retailers must focus on improving the end-to-end shopping experience and winning customer loyalty,'' said Randy Alleyne, Cydcor Vice President of Retail. "Cydcor provides well-trained, retail-branded representatives to help make that happen through quality, results-oriented in-store customer engagements.''

Cydcor meets full service, seasonal support and niche product needs through store-within-a store models. After engaging with Cydcor, territory management teams and retail product experts collaborate with client staff to identify objectives and expectations, and then create and implement scalable, custom programs that translate customer engagement and service into sales.

"In everything we do, Cydcor is focused on serving customers with excellence, serving our clients with distinction and generating results,'' Majeski said. "Our in-store retail support complements the outsourced face-to-face sales work we do that continues to earn us accolades, and achieve results for our clients.''

Last year, Cydcor earned top honors overall for Sales and Marketing Outsourcing in Brown-Wilson Group/Datamonitor "The Black Book of Outsourcing" 2009 annual survey. Among other elite vendor and performance ranking honors, Cydcor earned the survey's highest overall client satisfaction, ranking at 93 percent. Cydcor placed first in 9 of 18 key performance indicators evaluated as part of the annual survey. In four "vendor function'' categories, Cydcor earned top honors in two categories: 1) sales team outsourcing and 2) sales support service.

Cydcor is recruiting talented salespeople to support new in-store marketing initiatives. Interested candidates should send a resume to retailjobs@cydcor.com.

In addition to Heal the Bay, Cydcor made a monetary donation to the organization, demonstrating the company’s commitment to community philanthropy.

“We are excited to partner with local businesses like Cydcor,” said Natalie Burdick, Heal the Bay’s constituent development manager. “Their connection to the ocean and commitment to protecting it are important for building greater awareness and generating funds to support our efforts to make Southern California coastal waters and watersheds safe, healthy, and clean.”

As an example of Cydcor’s community involvement, Cydcor recently donated 27 large boxes of items, ranging from food snacks and toiletries to entertainment, to American soldiers through Any Soldier, Inc., an organization that helps nearly 100,000 American soldiers in all branches of the military receive letters and packages from home.

In previous years, Cydcor hosted a toy drive to benefit Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles during its annual corporate kick-off meeting.  Cydcor also donated groceries and hygiene products to a Manna-sponsored food drive and helped more than 500 Sylmar families who lost their homes in the Sayre fire.

Cydcor Community Service Helps American Soldiers

Cydcor sales organization gives 27 boxes of items to troops overseas

Through its Cydcor community relations program, Cydcor, the leading provider of outsourced, face-to-face sales teams, has donated 27 boxes of items, ranging from food snacks and toiletries to entertainment, to American soldiers through Any Soldier, Inc., an organization that helps nearly 100,000 American soldiers in all branches of the military receive letters and packages from home.

Cydcor community outreach and volunteerism is a key part of the company’s culture, and the donation to the troops represents the Cydcor’s goal of helping service people who are not able to be with families this holiday season.

The Cydcor community has donated to other charitable organizations in previous years, such as Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles and Casa Pacifica in Camarillo, California. To support its network of independent sales offices, the company also supports Cydcor offices in their community outreach programs. Cydcor also launched the Neighborhood Leader program in early 2009, which highlights volunteer efforts to charitable organizations around the United States. To date, Cydcor has supported 15 organizations, with more than 220 sales representatives participating and donating more than 200 hours.

“Our troops are making sacrifices for all of us and we felt it was very important to help them as much as we could,” said Gary Polson, chief executive officer of Cydcor. “We’re happy to be able to provide them with items they need to make life a little easier – our wish is that the Cydcor community could help each and every soldier who is giving their time to our country.”

Cydcor team members support Cydcor’s community relations efforts and took an enormous interest in donating to Any Soldier, adding items to the dozens of boxes at the company’s Westlake Village, CA location. Happy to “fill” the boxes, they were excited to put the packages together and get them quickly off to the troops.

On AnySoldier.com, e-mails are featured from military personnel regarding the type of support needed in the field – including letters, packages, toiletries, food, newspapers, and magazines. Donors – like Cydcor – address their letters and packages to the writer’s name, but also add the words “ATTN: Any Soldier” on the second line. The writer shares the mail with fellow servicemen and women. If there is “Any Soldier” not receiving a lot of mail from home, that soldier will be the first person to receive the letter.

“During the holidays, people become reflective, and our ability to be here with our families enjoying the comforts of home while our country’s soldiers are away from theirs resonated with the Cydcor community of team members. We want to do everything we can to ensure that they have a memorable holiday season,” said Vera Quinn, senior vice president of operations at Cydcor. “We’re proud to have had the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these soldiers.”

About Any Soldier Inc.

Any Soldier Inc. helps nearly 100,000 American soldiers in all branches of the military, both active duty and reservists, and has become one of the leading efforts in making sure the men and women who have been deployed for the war are cared for, via letters and packages from “home.” For more information, visit www.AnySoldier.com.

Cydcor ranks #14 among mid-sized companies for employee benefits and work-life balance

Cydcor was named among the “Best Places to Work” by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal for the second year in a row and ranked #14 for area mid-sized companies.

The Business Journal and Best Companies Group worked together to identify and recognize area companies like Cydcor with a strong commitment to workplace excellence. Both publicly and privately held organizations were selected based on benefits, corporate philanthropy, policies, work-life balance, internal working conditions, local management, camaraderie and support of employees’ personal growth. Selections were based on company surveys and employee comments.

“Cydcor is a company that values hard work on our clients’ behalf, but also a company that rewards our employees and contributes to our community,” said Gary Polson, chief executive officer of Cydcor. “We’re proud Cydcor has been recognized as one of the area’s Best Places to Work once again.”

Cydcor was specifically recognized for a supportive work environment and culture, open communication, quality and commitment of management and benefits. Cydcor team members are eligible for benefits in the month following their hire date. Beginning in their first year, each Cydcor employee receives 15 days of sick and vacation time. Team members can also occasionally arrange to work from home. Cydcor provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), including mental health counseling and referrals, wellness and smoking cessation programs.

In order to maintain open communication between company leaders and team members, Cydcor’s office culture includes a suggestion box, open-door policy, employee surveys and organizational newsletters.

The company culture is guided by a distinct set of highly valued behaviors. “Our values aren’t just words on paper. They are well thought out actions that represent who we are and what we do for our clients,” said Vera Quinn, senior vice president of Operations. “Cydcor team members are rewarded monthly for exhibiting the Behaviors We Value, encouraging that these values live on in our daily interactions.”

The company kicked off 2009 with brand-new Cydcor offices in Westlake Village, Calif. Approximately 100 Los Angeles area employees moved into Conejo Valley’s Westlake Park Place, a new 27-acre campus style office development. Occupying the entire 4th floor with 20,000 square feet, the Cydcor office’s new space is almost twice the size of its current location, which the company occupied for the past seven years.

Cydcor also puts a large emphasis on corporate philanthropy in Cydcor’s community. This past year, the Cydcor hosted Business Building Blocks, a weekend filled with philanthropic and training activities with the Boys & Girls Club of Venice for soon-to-be office owners. Cydcor also hosted a toy drive to benefit Childrens Hospital Los Angeles during its annual corporate kick-off meeting. Last fall, Cydcor donated groceries and hygiene products to a Manna-sponsored food drive and helped more than 500 Sylmar families who lost their homes in the Sayre fire. Last spring, the Cydcor joined the ranks of Ventura county businesses for some friendly competition during the 2009 Ventura Corporate Games. Cydcor kicked off its participation by lending a hand (and a shovel) at one of the group’s community service events – the Harbor Wetlands Restoration Project.

30 Fastest Growing Companies of the Year 2025 - Featuring Interview With Vera Quinn

Vera Quinn, Cydcor President and CEO
Vera Quinn, Cydcor President and CEO

Cydcor was founded in 1994 on a simple yet powerful principle: people still want to buy from people they trust. While much of the business world in the 1990s was moving toward automation and call centers, the founders of Cydcor recognized that something essential was being lost. Technology could handle transactions, but it could not replace trust, loyalty, or the personal connection that uniquely comes from a face-to-face conversation. That insight shaped the company’s mission and continues to guide it today. Headquartered in Agoura Hills, California, Cydcor partners with Fortune 500 leaders as well as emerging brands across the U.S. and Canada. The company specializes in outsourced, in-person customer acquisition through a network of independently owned sales companies across North America. These companies operate in the residential, retail, business-to-business, and event services channels, creating flexible and scalable solutions to meet each client’s needs. Some clients rely on Cydcor to complement their existing sales force, while others count on Cydcor’s network as their exclusive customer acquisition channel. In both cases, the goal remains the same: driving measurable growth through meaningful interactions.

What sets Cydcor apart is its ability to combine the timeless art of relationship building with modern systems and accountability. While independent sales companies focus on customer engagement, Cydcor provides the backbone that makes scaling possible. This includes compliance oversight, detailed reporting, operational systems, and performance tracking that give clients confidence in both the process and the results. The approach has earned the trust of top Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 brands that turn to Cydcor when they need more than just numbers on a spreadsheet. They need real conversations, genuine connections, and long-term customer relationships.

Under the leadership of Vera Quinn, President and CEO, Cydcor continues to evolve without losing sight of its core belief: that business has always been built on human connection. In a marketplace where digital noise grows louder every day, Cydcor proves that face-to-face sales remain not only relevant but essential. It is a model that honors tradition while embracing innovation, ensuring clients have the reach, structure, and results they need to grow.

In conversation with Vera Quinn, President and CEO of Cydcor

“We see technology as a way to make the in-person experience even better. Our platforms, sales tools, and data systems deliver the information clients need—precisely when they need it."

– Vera Quinn, Cydcor President and CEO

Cydcor has been a trusted partner to Fortune 500 companies for more than three decades. How has your face-to-face approach helped brands stay competitive in today’s automated world?

In today’s automated world, the value of human connection and quality continues to rise because people’s needs are not one-size-fits-all. Brands spend heavily trying to break through the noise, but nothing cuts through like a real conversation. When the field teams engage face-to-face, whether in a business, at a retail store, at someone’s doorstep, or an event, it creates authenticity, accountability, and connection. That personal approach builds trust and loyalty, delivering long-term growth instead of one-off transactions. There is no substitute for the clarity and trust that comes for genuine two-way conversation.

You work across very different verticals—B2B, retail, residential, and event services. How do you customize each campaign?

It starts with listening. We take the time to understand what matters most to the client—what outcomes they want to achieve and who they’re trying to reach. From there, we apply proven strategies while piloting and refining until the approach is right. We don’t believe in copy-and-paste campaigns; every engagement is designed around the client’s goals, with a clear commitment to measurable results.

We’re also highly nimble. Offers, hours, and territory plans can shift quickly, and we adjust with speed, going where customers are and where opportunities exist. For example, in retail environments customers may need product education at the point of sale, while in B2B settings the focus is often on efficiency and ROI. Each campaign is tailored to those realities, ensuring both clients and customers feel understood.

Leading companies often credit Cydcor with helping them expand into new markets. How does your model drive that kind of growth?

We help clients grow because we’re built to scale responsibly. The companies in our network are locally run by entrepreneurs who care deeply about performance and quality. That ownership mindset allows us to move fast when a client wants to expand while still delivering consistency and quality. We’re able to test, adapt, and ramp with speed—without sacrificing the fundamentals. Because we take such pride in the brands we represent, our clients trust us to deliver with consistency and care.

Cydcor works with a network of independently owned sales companies. How does that support innovation and client outcomes?

Entrepreneurs think differently. They’re invested in doing things right because it’s their business. That ownership mindset creates a ripple effect: higher standards, better execution, and more accountability. When a client partners with us, they’re not just accessing sales teams; they’re tapping into a culture of ownership and drive. That translates into stronger performance in the field and sustained results for the brand.

You’ve been recognized as a Great Place to Work. How do culture and leadership play into your business success?

Our culture is built on the belief that people succeed when they help others succeed. That philosophy drives how we lead, how we collaborate, and how we show up for our clients and each other. Our values aren’t just words on a wall. They act as our constitution, guiding decisions and holding us accountable. Because of that, leadership at Cydcor isn’t about hierarchy; it’s about creating an environment where people support one another, push for excellence, and celebrate shared wins. That’s why our culture has become a competitive advantage and why clients trust us to represent their brands with pride.

Technology is clearly important to your operations. How do you balance that with the human side of your business?

We see technology as a way to make the in-person experience even better. Our platforms, sales tools, and data systems deliver the information clients need—precisely when they need it. AI is making our systems smarter and faster, improving everything from compliance to reporting to campaign insights. At the end of the day, technology is there to empower people. It supports the work; it doesn’t replace the human connection that makes in-person sales powerful.

What’s next for Cydcor? Any exciting plans on the horizon?

Cydcor is entering an exciting new chapter of growth. We’re expanding into new industries while continuing to strengthen relationships with the Fortune 500 and emerging brands we already serve. 13-Year Streak Highlights Company's People-First Culture and Growth Opportunities

Agoura Hills, California--(Newsfile Corp. - August 11, 2025) - For the 13th time, Cydcor has earned a place on the Los Angeles Business Journal's (LABJ) Best Places to Work in Los Angeles list. This recognition, determined by detailed employee surveys conducted by Workforce Research Group, celebrates Cydcor's enduring commitment to a collaborative, employee-centric workplace culture. As a leader in outsourced sales and customer acquisition services, Cydcor continues to set the bar for what it means to build a workplace where people grow, thrive, and find purpose.

Recognition Driven by Employee Survey and Culture

Hundreds of small, medium, and large companies across LA participated in the 2025 LABJ survey. The process evaluates workplace policies and practices, with 80% of the score drawn from confidential employee feedback. The result: a curated list of LA's top employers, with Cydcor standing out for its consistent leadership, supportive environment, career development focus, and the company's foundation lies in its culture and core values.

A 13-Year Legacy of Workplace Excellence

"We are very intentional about building both a high-performing culture and a high-performing business," said Vera Quinn, CEO of Cydcor. "We want Cydcor to be a place where people are inspired to grow, feel proud of their work, and know they're part of something meaningful."

Cydcor uses the feedback collected through the survey process not only to celebrate what's working but also to highlight areas where the company and departments can improve. This ensures continuous growth, adaptation, and accountability across all levels of the organization. Cydcor fosters a culture where people helping people isn't just a saying, it's the way business is done.

"Consistency matters. Being recognized year after year is a result of our people showing up for one another, staying grounded in our values, and always aiming to get better," Quinn added.
